Canadoodle's Guardian Program We do not currently have Guardian Dogs needing homes. Canadoodle Australian Labradoodles has a guardian program and is looking for people in and around the Grand Forks area for permanent guardian homes for our puppies. If interested, please read Canadoodles Guardian Home Expectations below. Contact Karen for more information. Canadoodle's Guardian Home Expectations (name) will be known throughout as Doodle Our Expectations: Doodle is a female/male breeding Labradoodle puppy. We require that all appropriate precautions be taken to ensure that she/he is kept safe both from getting loose, lost or hurt and from other dogs hurting her/him or causing her to become pregnant. We require that you keep track of Doodles’s heat cycles and count the days from the first day that she has a swollen vulva and has blood coming from it and contact us when it begins, so that we can determine our course of action. FEMALE
MALE In addition to the breeding and whelping times, Doodle will occasionally need to have tests required for the breeding program. Once each year, she/he must have a special eye exam, (called a CERF) which can be done at a local Ophthalmologist or at the yearly CERF clinic we hold here at Canadoodles (to be determined at a later date). If other testing is required, we would ask that you attend the Sunshine Valley Animal Hospital or a veterinarian in your area that we feel confident with, at your convenience, to have these tests preformed and have it billed to us. We require that all appropriate vaccinations are kept current, as you would any family pet and that all regular maintenance and upkeep be your financial obligation. We do have specific guidelines for the vaccinations that we wish to be administered, which are fewer than what is traditionally given. Any financial costs pertaining to the breeding of Doodle will be born by us. We require yearly vaccinations against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo Virus, and Parainfluenza. The shot is referred to as DHPP. We do not want Corona Virus or Leptospirosis included in the vaccine at this time. We also require that Bordatella be given yearly and it can be at the same time. We require that Rabies be given at a separate time at least one month after the DHPP and Bordatella, and again every three years after the first booster. Sometimes dogs can suffer from Epilepsy , Auto Immune Disorders, skin irritations etc. as a result of too many vaccines being administered at the same time. Finally Heartworm on the direction of the veterinarian, with the constant changes in formulas, this may change yearly and should be used according to the most widely acceptable standards, if there are any questions, please ask first. We require that only a top quality dog
food be offered and very little but preferably no human food (table scraps).
The health, quality and number of puppies is directly affected by their
food. We use Pets First -
Lamb Meal, Chicken Meal and Rice Maintenance mixed 50/50 with Chicken and
Rice Lite Maintenance that is available through us, currently at $48.00 per 40
lbs. Any food that is
available in a grocery store ie: Pedigree, Purina, Iams,
is a low end formula which is not good quality dog food.
Using canned food is also a problem in that it can create teeth problems.
Becoming very overweight or obese can put a strain on the dog as well as
making it difficult to get pregnant or properly whelp a litter. Our dogs are all currently being cared
for by Dr. Robert Parmenter of the Sunshine Valley Animal Hospital in Grand
Forks; we would prefer that to continue whenever you are in this area.
If you should have an emergency - please go to the nearest Vet and
Contact us immediately. Finally, it is imperative that Doodle
become a member of your family and not a backyard dog.
We are looking for happy, well adjusted mothers and fathers who will pass
on their good traits and happy lives to their puppies.
Grooming is an important part, whether you decide to clip her/him
yourself or bring her/him in for grooming, it should be consistent and she/he
should be free from mats and debris in her/his coat, as much as possible. We hope
you have a wonderful experience with a Canadoodle Australian Labradoodles and
look forward to working with you. Tom and
